HIV Prevention & Minority Health Advocacy

TREI is committed to reducing the impact of HIV among minority populations through education, awareness, and healthcare access.

Services include:

  • HIV Awareness Campaigns: Conducting targeted outreach programs to educate high-risk communities about prevention, testing, and treatment options. From 2019 to 2021, 32% of new HIV diagnoses in Massachusetts were among Black (non-Hispanic) individuals, demonstrating significant disparities.
  • Community Health Education: Partnering with local organizations to offer workshops, seminars, and informational materials on HIV and sexual health. Black men in Massachusetts have an HIV prevalence rate six times higher than their White counterparts. 
  • Free & Confidential HIV Testing: Working with healthcare providers to ensure accessible, stigma-free HIV testing and counseling. 
  • Access to Treatment & Support Services: Connecting individuals with healthcare professionals for continued medical care, treatment, and mental health support. Massachusetts provides state-subsidized healthcare to all residents, regardless of immigration status, improving healthcare access. 
  • Combating Stigma & Misinformation: Launching public initiatives to challenge myths surrounding HIV and reduce discrimination against affected individuals.


Migrant Support, Human Rights & Integration

TREI recognizes the challenges that migrants face upon arrival in the U.S. and works to ease their transition through comprehensive support programs.

Key services include:

  • Resource & Assistance Programs: Providing guidance on accessing healthcare, legal aid, education, and other essential services. Massachusetts is home to over 1.2 million immigrants, making up nearly 16% of the state's population, many of whom require essential support services.
  • Legal Support & Human Rights Advocacy: Offering legal guidance on immigration policies, asylum applications, work permits, and family reunification. Advocating for migrant rights, anti-discrimination policies, and fair treatment under U.S. law. Nearly 24% of immigrants in Massachusetts are undocumented and face legal barriers to employment and residency.
  • Employment Assistance: Connecting migrants with job opportunities, vocational training, resume-building workshops, and career mentorship programs. Approximately 18% of the state's workforce comprises immigrants, yet they experience higher unemployment rates compared to native-born residents.  
  • Housing Assistance: Partnering with housing agencies and landlords to help migrants secure safe, affordable housing. Over 40% of migrant households in Massachusetts are considered cost-burdened, spending more than 30% of their income on rent.
  • Cultural Orientation & Integration: Organizing language classes, cultural exchange programs, and workshops to help newcomers adapt to life in the U.S. Reports indicate that 22% of immigrants in Massachusetts have limited English proficiency, highlighting the need for language training programs.

Mental Health & Drug Abuse Prevention

TREI is dedicated to addressing mental health challenges and substance abuse issues among minority and migrant populations. Services include:

Drug Abuse Prevention & Regulation

Conducting awareness campaigns, offering counseling, and providing resources to prevent and reduce substance abuse.

Stress & Depression Management

Organizing workshops, support groups, and access to professional counseling services to help individuals cope with mental health struggles.

Autism Awareness & Support

Providing educational resources, early intervention services, and support networks for families affected by autism spectrum disorders.
